With the pandemic leading to an increase in unexpected layoffs, furloughs, and organizational restructurings, many people I cross paths with these days have been dealt some frustrating blows in their careers. With entire industries being upended and consumer behaviors radically changing, perhaps forever, employees in these hard-hit industries have bared the brunt of the fallout.

Getting laid off is always frustrating. Getting laid off in the middle of a global pandemic can feel especially overwhelming and daunting on top of everything else you may be managing in your life. Part of bouncing back from a setback involves adopting the right mindset combined with taking some practical, productive steps to identify your next opportunity.
